ISRCTN
17821339 INNOVO is
an an international randomized controlled trial comparing giving ventilatory
support with inhaled nitric oxide against ventilatory support without
inhaled nitric oxide for newborn babies with severe but potentially
reversible respiratory failure. Papers giving the results at one year
for term and near term babies and for preterm babies have been published. Recruitment started in March 1997 and closed on 31st December 2001. All babies were assessed at one year of age (corrected for preterm delivery) at their routine paediatric follow-up. Further funding was agreed by the MRC and all trial babies were assessed for neurodevelopmental and cognitive development at around 4 years. This site contains information about INNOVO. It is primarily aimed at clinicians caring for sick newborn babies but also contains information and links which are useful to parents of sick babies and others interested in this field. |
